ALBERTA Coal is again being mined at Grande Cache by the aptly-named GRANDE CACHE COAL CORP. The company announced that it had mined the first raw coal from the 12S B2 surface mine for processing though its wash plant. The first export shipment of hard coking coal is scheduled for October.

Grande Cache has signed a contract mining and hauling agreement with NORTH AMERICAN ENTERPRISES. Besides work at the 12S B2 pit, the contractor has begun development of the 7-4 underground mine.

Grande Cache holds coal leases covering more than 15,000 hectares in the Smoky River coalfield located in west-central Alberta. Its website is at www.gccoal.com.
