ALBERTA - The LUSCAR ENERGY PARTNERSHIP of Toronto has announced plans to double the output of its Coal Valley mine 100 km south of Edson. The $75-million project will boost production of thermal coal to 4 million tonnes/year.

The Coal Valley expansion involves expanding and rehabilitating the existing wash plant and leasing additional mining equipment. The project will add at least 100 new permanent jobs at the mine. Work on the plant and equipment acquisition will begin immediately, says Luscar.
