TENNESSEE - Vancouver-based HILLSBOROUGH RESOURCES has acquired all the coal mining assets of Cumberland Coal Company near Crossville. Hillsborough's wholly-owned subsidiary, CROSSVILLE COAL, will immediately begin reopening the underground mine. The assets acquired include a 200-ton/hour coal preparation plant, coal licences, mining permits, etc.
We here at CMJ cannot remember another Canadian coal company buying an American operation. Hillsborough's main asset is its Quinsam coal mine near Campbell River, B.C.
