MEXICO - FRONTERA COPPER of Toronto has everything on-track for production to start from its Piedras Verdes copper project in the second half of 2006. The $76-million project includes an open pit, heap leach and solvent extraction/electrowinning circuit. Frontera recently awarded the engineering, procurement and construction management contract for the SX/EW plant to M3 ENGINEERING.

Piedras Verdes has an 18-year projected life during which time it will production 942 million lb of copper. The annual production rate is pegged at 70 million lb of cathode at an average life-of-mine cash operating cost of US$0.58/lb.
