QUEBEC Montreal-based CAMPBELL RESOURCES is encouraged by results of its definition drilling program underway at the former Copper Rand mine near Chibougamau. Preliminary results based on the drilling indicate that there are 672,000 tons of ore averaging 2.37% Cu and 0.065 oz/t Au between levels 4610 and 4830. This is an increase of 67% from earlier estimates.

CORPORATION COPPER RAND INC. (in which Campbell holds a 76% interest) has been working on the $60-million Copper Rand 5000 project as it prepares to resume production. A 4,000-ft drift is nearing completion and the property should be in commercial production (1,450 tons/day) by the end of this month. The mill has also been updated. Reopening Copper Rand will add 35,000 oz of gold and 15 million lb of copper to the Campbell account in each of the next five years.
