PERU – Toronto-based Hudbay Minerals has been forced to temporarily suspend operations at its Constancia copper-molybdenum mine as a result of trespassers in the open pit area. The company said the stoppage was necessary for the safety of employees and the people occupying the site. The interlopers are from the Chamaca district, about an hour away from the mine. Their representatives signed an agreement with the national and local governments and Hudbay Peru within the last two weeks confirming areas of social co-operation. Police are on the scene to maintain order. Please visit www.HudbayMinerals.com.
