BRITISH COLUMBIA - The capacity of the Gibraltar copper concentrator will be increased to 100 million lb of copper annually from 70 million lb. Owner TASEKO MINES of Vancouver said the additional capacity will be on-stream by 2008.

This is a $62-million project that includes an expansion of the grinding circuit with the addition of a SAG mill. With an improved grinding capability, the mill will handle 25% more ore throughput, reaching 42,000 tonnes/day. The flotation circuits will also be replaced. Taseko says the project will reduce operating costs by roughly 10%.

The upgrade of the flotation system is to begin immediately, and the new grinding circuit will be ready in the latter part of 2007. More information about the Gibraltar copper-molybdenum mine can be found at www.TasekoMines.com.
