BRITISH COLUMBIA Vancouver-based IMPERIAL METALS CORP. has set new records for production and concentrate shipments during the second quarter at its Mount Polley mine near Williams Lake. Copper production was 17.48 million lb, based on average mill throughput of 1.78 million t of ore grading 0.592% Cu, an average of 19,642 t/d. Concentrate shipments in the second quarter also set a record with over 50,000 wet metric tonnes.

Meanwhile, exploration drilling continues to test the Boundary zone, expanding the magnetite breccia which hosts high-grade copper/gold mineralization. Intersections as long as 32.3 m with grades of 1.43% Cu and 1.47 g/t Au and 22.3 m averaging 1.56% Cu and 1.21 g/t Au have been recorded. One recent hole intersected 49.5 m at 0.65% Cu and 0.54 g/t Au beneath the known limits of the zone.

A Mount Polley drill plan, Boundary cross section, and 2008 drill assay table are available on the company's website, www.ImperialMetals.com.
