YUKON - WESTERN COPPER CORP. of Vancouver has released the latest resource estimate for its wholly owned Carmacks copper project 200 km north of Whitehorse. The latest numbers include measured and indicated oxide resources of 12.0 million tonnes grading 1.06% Cu and 0.46 g/t Au plus sulphide resources of 4.3 million tonnes grading 0.75% Cu and 0.21 g/t Au.

Total contained metals in all resource categories are approximately 415.0 million lb of copper, 225,000 oz of gold and 2.3 million oz of silver. The resource report was prepared by WARDROP ENGINEERING, also of Vancouver.

A feasibility study for a solvent extraction/electrowinning operation was prepared earlier this year by M3 ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY. Such a development would cost a total of $144 million including a 10% contingency. Over the life of the mine, copper would be produced for Cdn$0.98/lb. If permitting goes as planned, the first cathode copper would be produced in Q4 2009.

The feasibility study may be read in its entirety at www.WesternCopperCorp.com.
