MONTREAL, Quebec ALCAN INC. has been named Canada's number one corporate citizen by CORPORATE KNIGHTS magazine, which examined 100 TSX-listed companies. In the materials sector, Alcan was also judged first over 21 other companies.
Corporate Knights ranked the 100 companies on their community relations, international practices, product safety, business practices, corporate governance, employee relations, and diversity. "Alcan is a good example of how a firm can forge sustainability with profitability. In a world that requires business to step up to the plate on their broader responsibilities, Alcan has set an evolving standard that other companies should shoot for," declared Toby Heaps, publisher the magazine.
