YELLOWKNIFE, Northwest Territories DIAVIK DIAMOND MINES held its very successful Fourth Annual Charity Silent Auction, which raised $24,000 for two local charities. The Yellowknife Association for Community Living-Abe Miller Centre and the Yellowknife YWCA will share the proceeds equally.

The auction was held at the DDMI corporate office in Yellowknife and concluded Friday, June 20, coinciding with Raven Mad Daze. The auction included 150 items donated by over 100 companies. For its part, the Diavik mine joint venture partners DDMI and Aber donated a 0.5-carat princess cut diamond. Top bid for the diamond was $2,000.

"Again this year, the event was successful. There were great deals to be had. Diavik supplier companies and contractors were very generous in providing items," noted Darryl Bohnet, Diavik VP of community affairs. "It's a group effort. Representatives from the two charities run the auction by providing people to register bidders and then take the bids. Diavik staff volunteer their time as well," he added.
