PRINCE ALBERT, Saskatchewan Saskatoon's SHORE GOLD is building a dense media separation (DMS) plant to process a 25,000-ton sample from the Star diamond project near here. The modular components of the plant are on site, and Bateman Engineering is supervising its assembly. The plant will probably be commissioned by the end of this month.
The exploration shaft intersected the kimberlite-sediment interface 107 metres below surface and will bottom out at 250 metres. Two bulk samples will be collected, one of 5,000 tons from the shaft and a second of 20,000 tons from lateral drifts. The kimberlite will be treated at the DMS plant to produce a 3,000-ct macrodiamond parcel suitable for stone valuation.
