NORTHWEST TERRITORIES –
Mountain Province Diamonds, 49% owner of the Gahcho Kue diamond project 280 km northeast of Yellowknife, says construction is 87% complete, and start-up remains targeted for the first half of this year.
Allan Rodel has been hired as the general manager. He is an employee of
De Beers that owns 51% and is the operator of Gahcho Kue. Nine other senior operation appointments have also been made including the mining manager, engineering and maintenance manager, ore processing manager, and technical services manager. With the team in place, commissioning has begun.
All the critical, large mining equipment has been delivered via the ice road, said Mountain Province, and delivery of diesel fuel to the site continues.
