ARVADA, Colorado Spectral International now offers two versions of its SPECMIN software for earth science specialists.

SPECMIN Pro is the most comprehensive version and includes a mineral spectral database with over 1,500 spectra of mineral species compiled using a full-range of ASD FieldSpec Pro spectroradiometer and the PIMA-II shortwave infrared spectrometer. Data can be searched by species, class or wavelength. Users can incorporate proprietary data sets and new collections of spectra using the customized feature. The ever-expanding number of case studies of spectra and information on related environments and relationships of analyzed materials include various types of mineral deposits (diamonds, base metals and precious metals), mine and mill waste, natural and man-induced acid drainage, and soils.

SPECMIN IP is a streamlined version designed for users most interested in image processing, incorporation of spectral comparison in remote sensing and GIS database, and comparison of spectra from known minerals and other spectrally responsive materials. An additional spectral library, with selected files resampled to the ASTRE satellite spectral signatures may be added. This version comes with less background information on the internal spectral databases and does not have all of the wavelength search and match capabilities of SPECMIN Pro. A free, 30-day demonstration version of SPECMIN IP may be downloaded from www.mineral.com/products.htm.

Both SPECMIN packages come with one year of basic technical support and free upgrades of both the software and spectral databases. Contact Spectral International at www.specmin.com.
