Emerson (NYSE: EMR) has announced a new version of its PACEdge industrial internet of things (IIoT) software, bringing artificial intelligence (AI) to the platform.
The new version introduces a group management system for devices, allowing for remote control across an entire facility or enterprise. The graphical interface has also been redesigned. Emerson says this uplift will allow for more intuitive operation, helping users view dashboards, AI-based analytics and system updates more easily.
A new app marketplace has also been added to PACEdge, providing a single space to browse all apps available for the platform.
“Amidst increasing competition, workforce shortages and the rise of AI, deploying software in the most performant and cost-effective way is a critical enabler of competitive advantage,” said Sean Saul, the vice-president of products for Emerson’s process systems and solutions business. “The PACEdge 3.0 software platform provides a suite of tools and services to make it easier for teams to deploy or build their own analytics, AI and machine learning applications, dashboards, graphics and data visualizations as close as possible to where work is performed.”
In mining, IIoT systems are used to monitor equipment, cut downtime and boost operational efficiency.
