SASKATCHEWANGolden Band Resources of Saskatoon has received environmental approval from the province's Ministry of Environment for its La Ronge gold project.

The La Ronge project includes several deposits and the 700-t/d Jolu mill. Production is to begin near the end of 2009 at a rate of 70,000 oz of gold annually for at least 10 years. The pre-feasibility study is complete, and Golden Band continues to explore for additional resources. The measured and indicated resource for the Komis, EP and Bingo deposits totals 1.2 million tonnes at 5.04 g/t Au. An additional 137,000 tonnes at 0.62 g/t Au makes up the inferred resource. A combination of underground and open pit mining is planned.

Golden Band is ready to apply for the construction and operational permits and licences with construction to start as soon as July 2009. During the construction period some 100 jobs will be created, and in commercial production there will be 125 full-time jobs in the initial three operating mines and at the Jolu gold mill.
