BRITISH COLUMBIA - BCMETALS CORP. of Vancouver is now the proud holder of an Environmental Assessment Certificate for its Red Chris copper-gold project near Iskut. The certificate was signed by the Hon. Richard Neufeld, Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, and by the Hon. Barry Penner, Minister of Environment, on behalf of the British Columbia government. The way is now clear for the project to receive the various permits and licences needed to build and run the mine.

The Red Chris open pit mine will be developed and operated by RED CHRIS DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, a wholly-owned subsidiary of bcMetals. The project has a 25-year life based on a milling rate of 30,000 tonnes/day. The deposit has proven and probable reserves of 276 million tonnes grading 0.349% Cu and 0.266 g/t Au, containing 2.12 billion lb of copper and 1.19 million oz of gold in situ.

Construction on the $228-million project is expected to begin next spring. The Red Chris technical report is available on the bcMetals website www.bcMetalsCorp.com.
