WASHINGTON, D.C. DEVON ENERGY CORP. of Oklahoma City is the recipient of the Four Cs Award from the director of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The Four Cs emphasized by the award are Consultation, Co-operation and Co-ordination in the service of Conservation.

The award was made in recognition of Devon's outstanding field operations in the Worland, Wyoming, area. CEO Larry Nichols said in a release that the award is a "great honour for the Worland exploration and production team and it's a gratifying accomplishment for the company as a whole.

CMJ mentions the award because Devon subsidiary DEVON CANADA will be the next producer in the Alberta oil sands industry. Construction of the Jackfish steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) project 140 km south of Fort McMurray is to begin late this year or early in 2005. Full production from the US$400 million undertaking is targeted for 2008 at a rate of 35,000 bbl/day.

More information about the Jackfish project is available by calling 866-232-7155 (toll-free) or writing to jackfish@DevonCanada.com.
