ALBERTA The ALBERTA FISH & GAME ASSOCIATION and TRANSALTA CORP. will reopen the Whitewood coal mine as a conservation area on Thursday, June 3. The new Wabamun Whitewood Conservation Properties are located about 70 km west of Edmonton. The 1,000-acre site will be used for wildlife and habitat conservation, education and recreation.
TransAlta invited interested parties to the opening festivities featuring a BBQ lunch, the unveiling of a plaque, and the release of pheasants on the site. No further details were available at press time.
