PERU - Compania Minera Antamina had an unscheduled three-day shutdown at its mill. The shutdown was a precautionary measure in response to a suspected leak in a decant tunnel. Local residents of the Ayash basin were temporarily relocated.

The mill restarted and residents returned to their communities on May 1, 2006. The company says there was no structural damage to the water system, and work on permanent repairs has begun.
