DYNO NOBEL NORTH AMERICA has launched the new DynoMiner APS (air powered system), a reliable, economical solution for loading bulk emulsion explosives in underground mines.

DynoMiner APS is a low-pressure pneumatic system that works off mine air. The compact unit can be transported to the face in a mucker bucket, powder truck or fork lift. Once at the face, the blaster attaches it to the mine airline. He inserts a Dyno Nobel 10-g Stinger and Nonel detonator into the end of the loading hose, inserts the hose to the back of the hole, and activates the system. It is operated with either a hand-held wireless remote or a pilot valve coupled to a 30-foot retractable hose. Blastholes can be loaded at rates as high as 200 pounds/minute depending on the hose configuration and air supply pressure.

The DynoMiner APS comes in two models. The drifter-style has a fixed 1,400-pound capacity explosives bin and is primarily intended for short horizontal mining applications. The stoper-style has a larger capacity with a detachable cassette-type bin, and is meant for downhole stoping applications. Both models offer optional chemical gassing capabilities to vary the density and explosive energy in the round.

Readers should also note that Dyno Nobel and ENSIGN-BICKFORD are merging their companies to enhance initiation systems and explosives capabilities. More information is available in the "News" section at www.dynonobel.com
