Markland now offers a sludge blanket level control based on a patented laser-like beam. Unlike sonar-based level detectors, Markland's system easily monitors both thin sludge or floc and dissolved air flotation process blankets. The microprocessor-based instrument is housed in a plastic enclosure with a liquid crystal local readout, 4- to 20-ma output, two setpoint relays, and an RS 232/485 serial port. It measures depths of 1.22 or 2.44 metres (4 or 8 feet), in either fixed or portable configurations. The unit features an advanced self-diagnostic system to simplify debugging.
