Drilling continues at the former producer, Afton, near Kamloops, B.C., and DRC RESOURCES is pleased with the results from one hole, 2K02-73, in particular. That hole assayed 1.86% Cu equivalent over 214 m. The detailed assay for that section included 1.03% Cu, 0.943 g/t Au, 0.201 g/t Pd, and 1.634 g/t Ag.

DRC has traced the zone over a length of 1,000 m, and the latest drilling indicates it is open to the northeast and southwest. The zone, as earlier defined, contains an indicated mineral resource of 34.3 million tonnes at 2.32% Cu equivalent.

The Afton property was previously owned by TECK CORP. (now TECK COMINCO), which operated the mine-mill from 1977 to 1991. A copper smelter was also built on the site, but it closed ahead of the mine and mill. During its heyday, Afton produced over 20 million kg Cu annually plus gold and silver.
