L'ORDER DES GOLOGUES DU QUEBEC and the ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL GEOSCIENTISTS OF ONTARIO have reached an agreement in principle allowing geoscientists registered in either province to work in the other. It specifically permits incidental practice and temporary practice between the provinces.

The agreement also defines "incidental" and "temporary". Incidental practice is defined as work in a specified location to a maximum of three separate activities within a three-month period during any 12-month period. Members must notify the host province, but there is no charge to the members. Temporary practice is defined as lasting longer than incidental practice but not exceeded two months and is related to a particular project. Members must apply for a one-year temporary licence (at reduced cost) and may renew it for an additional two years.

The final agreement should be prepared in the next two months. Implementation is to begin in March 2003.
