TORONTO - BARRICK GOLD announced last week it intends to explore opportunities to dispose of all or a portion of the NovaGold shares owned by it in the open market, through negotiated or private transactions or otherwise, in each case on such terms and at such times as Barrick may deem advisable.
Barrick bought about 14.8% of the outstanding shares of NOVAGOLD RESOURCES during its attempt to take over the smaller company during the last half of 2006. The shareholding makes Barrick the largest single shareholder of NovaGold.
