TEXAS - LUFKIN INDUSTRIES has made a giant leap up FORBES MAGAZINE's list of America's Best 200 Small Companies, rising to spot No.72 in 2007 from No.140 a year ago. This is the third straight year Lufkin was included in the list.

The Forbes evaluation included companies with revenues of $5 million to $750 million and with share prices above $5 as of Oct. 1, ranked according to return on equity, as well as sustained sales and net profit growth over 12-month and five-year periods.
