ONTARIO APOLLO GOLD CORP. of Denver has given the nod to development of its 100%-owned Black Fox gold project 75 km east of Timmins. Removal of glacial till from the planned open pit has begun, and mining should commence in March 2009.

By Q2 2009, Apollo anticipated producing 1,500 t/d of ore, enough to feed its mill. The company purchased the facilities of ST ANDREW GOLDFIELDS' Stock complex. Apollo has ordered a regrind ball mill and plans a $17-million upgrade for the plant. Plans to develop an underground mine have been deferred until after 2009. The Black Fox property contains a probable reserve of 3.35 million tonnes at 5.2 g/t Au suitable for open pit mining and 2.11 million tonnes at 8.8 g/t Au suitable for underground recovery.

A longitudinal drawing that shows plans for both mines is posted at www.ApolloGold.com.
