ONTARIO - Drilling by KIRKLAND LAKE GOLD in its Macassa mine at Kirkland Lake, Ont., has cut material assaying as high as 114 g/t (3.34 oz/ton) Au (uncut) over 5.12 metres. This high-grade zone and several others were intersected from the new 3500 L drift. Samples from other zones assayed 73 g/t Au over 1.95 metres and 83 g/t Au over 1.83 metres.

Kirkland Lake says the newly discovered mineralized zones differ from the quartz-hosted gold mined in the past. The new zones have more consistent grades in sulphide zones along extensive structures.

Diagrams of the recent drilling may be viewed at the company's website, www.klgold.com. Open the news for the release dated Aug. 10.
