MEXICO - Luismin, the operating arm of GOLDCORP and WHEATON RIVER MINERALS, has completed the US$70-million acquisition of the Bermejal gold deposit. The deposit is estimated to contain 2.4 million oz of gold only 2 km south of the Los Filos deposit, which Wheaton River brought to the company during the recent takeover.

The Bermejal deposit is located in Guerrero State in southern Mexico. Estimates of the indicated resources are 93.6 million tonnes grading 0.79 g/t Au. The deposit would support a heap leaching project, with the solution going to the nearby Los Filos plant for gold recovery.

The Los Filos property is the subject of feasibility studies nearing completion. With a projected annual output of 300,000 oz, it will become Mexico's largest gold mine.

Goldcorp (www.goldcorp.com) and Wheaton (www.WheatonRiver.com) are maintaining separate websites for the time being, but all recent press releases appear on both sites.
