QUEBEC - VIRGINIA GOLD MINES of Quebec City has uncovered new gold-bearing zones at its Eleonore project in the Opinaca area of James Bay. Drilling on the periphery of the previously discovered Roberto mineralized system revealed the new zones.

Holes targeting the southeast extension of the Roberto system intersected a new mineralized zone about 100 m north of the Roberto East zone. The new zone was traced laterally over 150 m and assayed 4.85 g/t Au over 4 m, 3.10 g/t Au over 4 m and 8.78 g/t Au over 0.62 m.

Three other areas on the periphery of the Roberto system were identified, according to the company. That indicates that the system now stretches laterally over more than 1.2 km and to a vertical depth of 550 m; better yet, it remains open in all directions. Detailed results from the most recent work are posted at www.Virginia.qc.ca in the press release dated June 9, 2005.
