SASKATCHEWAN CLAUDE RESOURCES has mobilized two diamond drills on its West Porky gold discovery, 2 km from its 100%-owned Seabee mine in northern Saskatchewan. This year's drilling will total 6,500 m in 22 holes.
Claude identified a gold-bearing shear-hosted system last year at West Porky. A strike length of at least 400 m and grades between 2 and 15 g/t Au were identified. Claude is now creating a drillhole database with intercepts on 50-m centres to a depth of 300 m. The company hopes to confirm the continuity of the mineralization and to collect samples for bench scale metallurgical testing.
The Seabee mine celebrated its 10th year of production in 2001 by producing 48,500 oz Au. Total resources at the end of that year were 1.6 million tonnes averaging 7.90 g/t Au.
