MONTREAL, Quebec The Hammerdown Extension in Newfoundland and the Camflo Northeast property in Quebec are now in the RICHMONT MINES portfolio. They have been optioned from COMMANDER RESOURCES and SOQUEM INC., respectively.

The Hammerdown Extension is adjacent to the Hammerdown mine, owned by Richmont. The mine went into production in July 2001 near King's Point, Nfld. Ore is treated off-site at the 350-tonnes/day Nugget Pond mill. Drilling on the newly-acquired property is to start soon to verify the lateral extension of the gold zones currently being mined. Commander will receive a royalty from any gold mined from the Hammerdown Extension, as it does from the existing mine.

The Camflo Northeast property is near Malartic, Que., and adjoins the western boundary of the Camflo property where Richmont operates a gold mill. The former Camflo mine produced 1.7 million oz of gold between 1965 and 1992. Richmont can acquire an 80% interest in the Northeast property.
