QUEBEC Toronto-based WESDOME GOLD MINES has restarted milling activities at its wholly-owned Kiena gold mine in Val d'Or. Commissioning began on July 24, and commercial production was declared on Aug. 1.
The Kiena mill was restarted using stockpiled material that totalled 12,000 tonnes at 4.0 g/t Au. The rate will be ramped up over the next few months to the daily target of 1,250 tonnes. The mine and mill will produce an estimated 50,000 oz of gold in 2007.
Wesdome acquired the closed Kiena mine and mill in 2003. A history of the property is available at www.Wesdome.com.
