MEXICO - Shades of the Wild West! Torontos SIERRA MINERALS reports that an armed bandit made off with three dor bars from its Cerro Colorado gold mine in Sonora. The gold bars, representing two-weeks output, weighed a total of 750 oz and were worth approximately US$502,000. The heist occurred on June 6, 2007, just hours before the arrival of an armoured vehicle to transport the dor to a U.S. refinery.

No employees were injured during the robbery. Sierra noted that this is the only robbery to have occurred since the mine went into production in 2004. The robbery was caught on tape by security cameras, and the company has taken additional security precautions to prevent a future theft.

Information about the Cerro Colorado gold mine is available at www.SierraMinerals.ca.
