ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. Full production has resumed at CAMBIOR's Doyon gold mine two weeks earlier than anticipated. On Feb. 28, 2003, the production hoist broke down, halting normal ore movement. Mining resumed on April 11 with the recall of the 125 unionized and non-unionized employees who had been temporarily laid off.
This year's gold production from the Doyon Division will be only 2,000 oz below budget, compared with the original fears of twice that amount. Cambior credits the excellent performance of the adjacent Mouska mine as well as the speed of hoist repairs for the lesser shortfall.
The outlook for the Doyon Division is available at
Cambior.
