MANITOBA - Partners KINROSS GOLD and HIGH RIVER GOLD MINES have decided to put the New Britannia gold mine on care-and-maintenance. Mining and milling was suspended in September 2004 while efforts were made to define an extension of the orebody.

The New Britannia mine in Snow Lake began commercial production in 1995 and has exceeded its original eight-year mine life. Gold production in 2004 was expected to be 33,000 oz as the original orebody was exhausted.

Other mining and development projects belonging to the joint venture partners can be found at www.kinross.com and www.hrg.ca.
