QUEBEC - NORTHERN STAR MINING of Val d'Or, Quebec, has released NI43-101-compliant numbers from its Malartic-Midway gold project. The updated report puts measured resources at 450,020 tonnes grading 5.42 g/t Au and indicated resources at 210,144 tonnes grading 7.13 g/t Au.

The previous technical report on the project was issued in 2004 and did not include the results of Northern Star's 2003 drilling. Since that time the company has added the Piche-Harvey claims to the project. Most recently, it agreed to acquire 100% of the Callahan gold claims adjacent to the Malartic-Midway project and the Kiena gold project belonging to WESDOME. The Callahan claims were previously part of a joint venture between KINROSS GOLD and INMET MINING.

The Malartic-Midway project covers a section 7.0 km long along the Cadillac Deformation zone between OSISKO and AGNICO-EAGLE's Goldex gold mine. It includes two former gold producers (the two shafts of the Malartic Goldfields mine) and consists of 116 claims comprising 3,142 ha.
