(Image: Tahoe Resources)[/caption] PERU – Tahoe Resources of Vancouver announced on May 3, 2018, that the local labour strike at its La arena gold mine 480 km northwest of Lima has been resolved. The strike began on April 20 as the local union demanded higher profit sharing payouts. Tahoe says it made the profit sharing payouts in accordance with Peruvian labour law. The two sides have come to an agreement, although the company did not detail what that might be. The striking union represents about 65% of the workforce at the mine. La Arena is an open pit, heap leach operation that produced 195,000 oz. of gold in 2017. Information about all of Tahoe’s operations is available at www.TahoeResources.com.
