AUSTRALIA - Queensland-based GROUNDPROBE offers a Slope Stability Radar (SSR) technology to measure the movement of pit walls and avoid costly damage caused by unexpected collapse. SSR provides near real-time, online measurement of the entire pit wall, allowing better management of the operation, and improved productivity.
GroundProbe credits its SSR with having provided information to anticipate over 40 slope failures (ranging from 1 tonne to 5 million tonnes) with sufficient warning to allow evacuation of people and equipment. The system has been installed at mines in Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, the United States and Zambia.
