LONDON, United Kingdom – Women in Mining UK (WIM) has launched its 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining Project to promote the significant impact of women within the worldwide mining industry. Every level of seniority is represented, and a dozen of the honourees are from Canada.

Amanda Van Dyke, chair of WIM (UK), said, "WIM (UK) has collaborated with WIM groups all over the world in order to reflect a broad cross-section of global industry talent in The 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining project. From engineers and geologists, to finance professionals and investors, each woman has been selected because of the lasting impact she makes on those around her as a positive role model and her contribution to the industry."

The Canadian contingent consists of the following women, some of whom our readers may know:

Lyn Anglin, president and CEO, Geoscience BC.

Maryse Belanger, senior VP technical services, Goldcorp.

Jacynthe Cote, CEO, Rio Tinto Alcan.

Patricia Dillon, president and CEO Mining Matters, Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.

Dominique Dionne, VP strategic affairs and communications, Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec.

Heather Ednie, managing director, Global Mining Standards and Guidelines Group.

Samantha Esply, general manager (mine and mills technical services), Vale – Sudbury Operations.

Louise Grondin, senior VP environment and sustainable development, Agnico Eagle Mines.

Jennifer Hooper, global director health and safety, Vale – Canada.

Deborah McCombe, president and CEO, Roscoe Postle Associates.

Catherine Mcleod-Seltzer, Chairman, Pacific Rim Mining.

Laura Mottola, president and CEO, Flow Partners.

JoAnne Nelson, northern British Columbia manager and senior mineral geologist, Edges.
