TORONTO, ONTARIO - The ABORIGINAL HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL OF CANADA is involved in planning a symposium to gather support for an Ontario Aboriginal Trades strategy, along with a committee that formed called the Ontario Aboriginal Apprenticeship Working Group. The conference will take place in Toronto on Feb. 15-16.

There is a willingness among Aboriginal human resources organizations to work with industry to develop strategies, to help more Aboriginal people get involved in the trades occupations in Ontario. The event will bring together Aboriginal HR development organizations, employers, governments, trainers and educators to review a draft strategy, gather feedback on how to implement various stages, and discuss the next steps.

This conference is carrying on from the recommendations of a 2003 Aboriginal Apprenticeship conference. To register and for background information visit www.oaawg.ca.
