LIVELY, ONTARIO - On Friday, Aug. 25, HY-DRIVE HYDROGEN TECHNOLOGIES of Mississauga, Ont., and Sudbury's MINING TECHNOLOGIES INTERNATIONAL (MTI) signed a landmark manufacturing and distribution contract. Under the terms of the agreement, MTI will adopt the HGS technology for use on selected underground and above-ground mining equipment. The agreement covers sales, marketing and manufacturing by MTI as well as ongoing research and development to enhance HGS features and make them more suitable for the mining market.

The HGS system developed by Hy-Drive generates and injects hydrogen gas into a regular internal combustion engine. The added hydrogen enhances the combustion process by allowing fuel to burn more efficiently. Benefits include better fuel economy, reduced emissions, increased torque and horsepower, and extended engine life. All of that can add up to higher productivity, points out Hy-Drive (www.Hy-Drive.com).

MTI manufactures mining trucks, loaders, underground utility vehicles and drilling equipment. The company purchased 20 HGS units earlier this year and is convinced they live up to Hy-Drive's claims.

"The fuel-saving levels of approximately 27% were very impressive and surpassed our expectation," said MTI president and CEO Robert Lipic. He added that HGS units will soon be going to four different mine sites.

MTI has chosen Sudbury for the HGS manufacturing and research facility. See www.MTI.ca.
