NUNAVUT An agreement in principle between MIRAMAR HOPE BAY LTD. (a subsidiary of Miramar Mining) and the Kitikmeot Inuit Assn. (KIA) concerning an Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement brings development of the Doris North gold mine in the Hope Bay Greenstone Belt one step closer.

The agreement will ensure that local employment, training, and business opportunities arising from construction and operation of the Doris North project are made available to the Inuit of the Kitikmeot region. It also outlines the special considerations and compensation that MIRAMAR HOPE BAY LTD. will provide for Inuit regarding traditional, social and cultural matters, and effects on Inuit water rights.

The agreement will become effective at a formal signing ceremony in Cambridge Bay after completion of the Nunavut Impact Review Board review of the Doris North project.

Miramar owns 100% of the Hope Bay project. Visit the company's web site at www.MiramarMining.com for a full explanation of the project and a resource estimate.
