INNOVATION: CEMI, CEDC to co-develop mining innovation capacity

ONTARIO – The Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation of Sudbury and the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission have joined forces to help strengthen collaboration across the province and leverage resources within the mining innovation sector. The two organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote a collaborative strategic approach to all aspects of mining. This will be accomplished through research, technology development and the commercialization of mining innovation. The MOU will serve as a model for bilateral collaboration between CEMI and CEDC. Collaboration with multilateral relationships, local and foreign academic institutions, researchers, mining companies, the mining supply and service sector, as well as government agencies will be encouraged. Doug Murray, CEO of CEDC, said that  mining has an important role to play In the continuing growth of northwestern Ontario economy and thanked CEMI for its support.
