The team at GEKKO SYSTEMS of Australia has sold an InLine Leach Reactor (ILR) model ILR100 batch automatic unit for installation at the new Tulawaka project in Tanzania. The unit will treat gravity gold concentrates from a Knelson concentrator.
Barrick announced earlier this month that it will proceed with construction of the new mine. The Tulawaka project has a high estimated grade of 11.54 g/t Au and total cash costs are forecast around US$175/oz. Tulawaka is located close Barrick's rich Bulyanhulu gold mine. Earlier in 2003, Barrick (which owns 70% of Tulawaka and is the operator) tested a similar model at its Lawlers operation in Western Australia.

There are 17 Gekko units operating in Africa. However, Australia is catching up quickly with 13 units currently installed or under construction. More information is available at www.gekkos.com.
