VANCOUVER, British Columbia On Feb. 25, TECK COMINCO announced that it must declare force majeure on its refined lead contracts. The move is necessary because the Kivcet lead furnace at Trail, B.C., was damaged in an explosion on Feb. 2. The company expects the smelter to be back on line in the second half of March, but customers should not expect lead deliveries to resume before April 2004.
