BELLEDUNE, N.B. Unionized employees at NORANDA’s Brunswick smelter have voted 69% in favour of a new collective agreement. The three-year agreement calls for an increase in the pension program, a progressive increase in benefits, and a freeze on wages and premiums for the life of the contract. Language changes that allow increased efficiency and a letter offering an early retirement provision were also included.

About 234 members of the United Steelworkers of America Local 7085 work at the smelter.

Details are available from Dale Coffin, director of external communications, at 416-982-7161.
