Litus has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with UWin Nanotech, a Taiwan-based company working with hydrometallurgy techniques for precious metal recovery.
Under the MOU, the companies intend to pursue a potential strategic collaboration. Through this partnership, UWin would use Litus’ proprietary nanomaterial composite and advanced separation processes for the extraction, separation and purification of cobalt, lithium, nickel and other valuable elements from recycling sources.
“This MOU reflects the growing global demand for advanced processing technologies that can recover lithium and other valuable materials efficiently,” Ghada Nafie, the founder and CEO of Litus, said in a news release. “End-of-life batteries are not waste, they are repositories of high-value materials,” she added.
Litus says the MOU also advances its plan to integrate its lithium extraction and recycling processes.
Litus is a Canadian critical minerals and battery-metals company. Its proprietary nanocomposite process is built at the company’s Calgary facility.
