The Bullmoose open pit in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., will lay off 46 employees on Jan. 24, 2003. The mine is nearing the end of its life, and a further 130 people will be laid off when it closes on April 4, 2003. Thirty-two workers will remain on site to complete reclamation and decommissioning.

TECK COMINCO operates the metallurgical coal mine and owns 61%. BHP BILLITON holds a 29% interest and NISSHO-IWAI (CANADA) has 10%. More information about the Bullmoose mine may be found at www.teckcominco.com
