CAMBIOR INC. remains on solid footing with its 2002 gold production, despite the fact that total ounces dipped from a year earlier. Production in 2002 was 568,000 oz Au, compared to 614,000 oz in 2001.
Looking at results for Cambior's various operations reveals the ups and downs. The Omai gold mine in Guyana poured 319,000 oz Au, surpassing its budget by 34,100 oz. The Doyon Division in Quebec produced 216,200 oz Au, down from 228,700 oz in 2001. Cambior's share of the Sleeping Giant output was 33,100 oz Au, up from 31,900 oz in 2001.
Cambior also owns 50% of the Niobec base metal mine in Quebec. Total sales from that operation were $23.5 million in 2002, compared with $18.7 million a year earlier.
